Other Resorts
Austria really is an incredible country to ski in. For many it represents all that skiing is about, breathtaking scenery, pretty villages and tree lined slopes. It also offers an amazing array of resorts to choose from. Many of these resorts sit within large ski areas, others are smaller affairs, not part of any ski region.
Linked ski areas are widely available within Austria. Some contain a large number of ski resorts like the Ski Armade ski area which contains 10 ski resorts, linked by ski bus. Whilst others like those listed below are more stand alone resorts, not linked into any other ski areas. There are clear advantages to both depending on what you are looking for.
Smaller resorts like those listed below can still offer you a great ski holiday. Many will still have slopes of ranging difficulty, a good choice of accommodation and enough to keep you busy whilst away. The benefit of being in a large ski area is the sheer choice you have available, a particular benefit if you are travelling with a mixed group.
How to Choose Your Ski Area
There really is no right answer here. It all depends what you want from your ski holiday. If you are travelling with young children who will spend their time on the nursery slopes then you may opt for a small ski resort that's great for beginners and has good facilities for children.
If however you are on holiday for 2 to 3 weeks or are in a group of mixed ability you need to find enough skiing for both the experts and beginners in your party. Skiing in a resort that's linked to other resorts may be an advantage here. The best advice we can give is to think about what exactly you want from your resort.
