Ski Europa Sport Austria
One the most popular skiing regions, Europa Sport is a family friendly Austrian ski area that includes Kaprun and Zell am See ski resorts. The main ski and snowboarding areas in the region, are the mountains of Kitzsteinhorn and Schmittenhöhe, with Maiskogel hot on their heels.
Visiting Europa Sport
In the heart of the Europa Sport, Kitzsteinhorn has around 30,000 square metres of snow parks, attracting snowboarders with its range of natural and half pipes. One of Salzburg's scenic, high mountain areas, it also attracts skiers from the autumn onwards, who enjoy the glacier snow. Over in Schmittenhohe, visitors can enjoy the 77km of cross country and freestyle trails from December until mid April.
There are also a range of more adventurous activities on offer, such as paragliding and Nordic walking. Although most of Europa Sport ski areas cater for different levels of skier, it's Maiskogel that has the reputation as a 'family friendly' mountain. A cable car transports families to the mountain station and its pistes, whilst the more experienced can head up to the top of the mountain.
Europa Sport is a ski area with 130km of pistes, a range of black, red, and easier blue runs, a great après ski atmosphere, and when you're tired of winter sports, many other attractions too. Among the long list of things to tempt you, is a popular Christmas market held in December, an Alpine Snow Train around Lake Zell, Castle Kaprun, and the underground Swarovski Crystal World.
Two airports are a few hours drive from the Europa Sport area, so flying there for a holiday or short break couldn't be easier. So why not check out this skiing region this season? You won't regret it!
