Visiting Grande Galaxie
The ski area of Grande Galaxie offers a great variety of runs, the official breakdown is 31 black, 75 red, 94 blue and 64 green but that doesn't really tell the full story. Each resort offers something really unique. La Grave for example offers truly awesome off piste so much so that it has become something of a mecca to those who are looking for extreme skiing and boarding. But be careful, you are advised to only ski this resort with an experienced guide. And do not head to La Grave if you are looking for lively après ski as it is virtually non existent!
Les Deux Alps in contrast is a world class resort offering a great range of piste for beginners through to expert and offers really lively après ski with 30 bars to choose from. Head for Puy Saint Vincent for long cruisy reds and blues and Serre Chevalier for great snowboarding.
So if you want real variety you will find no better choice than the Grande Galaxie region and as there are 5 airports all within a two hour drive it is also a great choice for a short break. In fact Grenoble airport is only a 1 hour drive, even better
