L'Espace San Bernardo ski area
Skiing with an international flavour awaits visitors to L'Espace San Bernardo ski region. La Rosière in the Savoyard area of France is linked with La Thuile in Italy's Aosta valley, to create a superb skiing and winter sports area that skiers and snowboarders alike flock to every year.
Spanning the Italian and French border, L'Espace San Bernardo ski area is in fact two ski resorts and the slopes between. With Mont Blanc in the distance and some excellent slopes, lots of Italian families come here year after year for their holidays.
Visiting L'Espace San Bernardo
The 150km of pistes within the L'Espace San Bernardo have views over Mont Blanc, traverse through sunny villages and forests and offer something to suit every level of skier and snowboarder. There are 6 gentle green slopes, 23 blue runs, 32 reds and 12 black runs, plus a host of other ski facilities. These include a ski jump and slalom arena. If you're looking to try something different, then there's also a snow kite school and heli-skiing available.
The ski region hosts seven different ski schools or registered instructors on hand to help you make the most of your holiday and a range of entertainment in the traditional villages for families/children. All this, coupled with the traditional Savoyard and Aosta valley dishes served in the many restaurants, makes for an entertaining après ski scene.
There are several transfer options available, depending on which resort you stay in. La Rosière can be reached via Lyons or Geneva in 3 hours 45 minutes, while La Thuile is around 2 hours from Geneva or Turin. Accessible, full of charm and with a ski season that runs from December to April this is a great choice for a ski holiday.
