Basel, Switzerland
Basel really does lie in the heart of Europe in the centre of a triangle of France, Germany and Switzerland laying between the Swiss Jura, Germany's Black Forest and Vosges in Alsace. Due to its location Basel is a major transportation hub, it has three railway stations and an airport served by international airlines.
What's in Basel?
Basel is a beautiful city and one of the best things to do is simply take a walk through its Old Town. Here you will find 15th century buildings alongside great modern architecture. If museums are your bag you will find great variety here from the Pantheon, a classic car museum, to the Kunsthalle, a leading museum of contemporary art.
There's also the botanical gardens at the University of Basel and the amazing Monkey Mountain set in the hills of the Alsace. Here you can find 200 Barbary macaques living free in a great wildlife park. And for wine lovers amongst you check out Colmar, the capital of the Alsace wine growing region.
Accessing the Slopes
As interesting as all that is it is the skiing and boarding that you have come here for, so what's the best way to get on the snow from Basel?
