Local skiing here is on the Golm ski area, part of the Montafon ski region. This is a good choice for family ski holidays.

Where?

Golm is the smallest of four main ski areas in Montafon, just 10 minutes drive from the motorway exit at Bludenz.It sits at the foot of the majestic Zimba and was once crowned the most beautiful flower village in Europe.Today it still exudes rural charm and has managed to mix modern buildings with traditional Montafon architecture.Easily accessible by rail and bus.The Golmerbahn cableway takes you up to the skiing which is in Golm.

On the slopes

The skiing and boarding here is mostly for beginners or intermediates, with mostly red and blue pistes. There is a nice 9km blue run and a 1500m vertical down to the valley lift station at Vandans.There are 9 ski lifts here, the main ones being the Golmerbahn which rises in three sections from Vandans to Holzschopf, then Matschwitz and finally Berghof Golm at 1890m. This is a good family ski area, head to the Panorama restaurant Gruneck where you can observe your children on the nursery slopes. Not a great place for expert skiers, although you may want to try the Diablo black run, the steepest groomed piste in Montafon.

Off the slopes

The Golm area hosts some good live music events. There is a range of accommodation here with a bed capacity of 1,200.Vandans is a good place to stay to explore the Montafon area. The tobogganing run is a must particularly if you do it on one of the nights that it opens.There is a good range of bars and restaurants here.
