Where?
Perched high above the Rhone Valley, the two towns of Crans and Montana have 5 gondolas servicing a vast and varied area. You'll also find the top ski resorts of Zermatt, Saas Fee and Verbier are easily accessed by road or rail. Access is via local airports at Sion and Geneva, the transfer time from Sion is 20 minutes, from Geneva approximately 2 hours.
On the Slopes
Ski holidays in Crans Montana offer over 160 km of terrain and with 5 gondolas servicing the area, there's always good snow somewhere on the mountain. Advanced skiers will enjoy tackling the World Cup pistes, while intermediates will find plenty of long, wide red and blue runs. There are three nursery slopes for beginners, plus a ski school at Grand Signal. And finally, snowboarders can enjoy snow parks at Pas du Loup and near the Plumachit ski lift.

Off the Slopes
The ski resort is made up of two villages, Crans and Montana, linked by a free bus service. Eating out is not cheap (this is Switzerland!), but the food is excellent. For a taste of traditional food try La Cave or Le Mayan. There are also numerous shops and sporting facilities including ten pin bowling, ice skating, curling, a fitness centre, indoor tennis, squash courts and tobogganing. The town also offers great non ski activities including the balloon festival in February.

Very good for beginners but don't forget if you are an expert you have the mens downhill-the Piste Nationale!

Apartments have become more popular with skiers over the years primarily because on the whole they are slightly cheaper than chalets and hotels but also because they have got better!

What Type of Hotels Are On Offer Here?

The nearest airport is Sion, 27km, Geneva is 181km, Bern 185km and Basel 276km. Geneva may be your best bet as it has more flights from more UK airports than Sion. But if you can get to Sion airport you will have an incredibly quick transfer-35 minutes in fact.
Transferring from Geneva
You could get a train from Geneva to Crans Montana via Sierre. The train journey is about 2 hours 15 minutes, then a further 20 minutes journey from Sierre to Montana. From here its a short taxi journey into Crans Montana.
You could always get a private taxi from Geneva into Crans Montana, the journey is about 2 hours. This can be a good option if there are 8 of you to share the minibus. Alternatively you could always hire a car which could be a good option if you want to explore the skiing area.
Driving from Geneva is quite easy as most of it is motorway driving. . The last 14km from Sierre to Crans Montana is a tricky mountain road but the scenery is amazing. Parking in Crans Montana is fine, there are main car parks next to the lift stations.If you want to drive the whole way, its a 6 hour 40 minute drive from Paris and an 11 hour drive from London.
