Where?
As the highest village in the complex, Courchevel 1850 provides access right onto some of the best skiing in the world - les 3 vallées - enough to fill a week without the need to venture further afield. As with the other linked resorts, access is easy via key airports like Chambéry, Lyon or Geneva with great road access in just a couple of hours.
On the Slopes
Ski Courchevel 1850 and it's all about the quality of skiing and snowboarding - and it's spectacular. Beginners are well catered for, and intermediates will find miles and miles of long cruising runs to keep them happy. Courchevel 1850 is also famous for its Couloirs, three ribbons of snow that snake between the rocks from the top station of the cable-car. Grand Couloir, Sous le Téléphérique and Emile Allais will test even the best skiers, especially when they are icy.

Off the Slopes
As the largest of the villages, Courchevel 1850 ski resort is the focal point for the whole area. While it can be expensive, it offers a fantastic selection of hotels, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Many of the top places get very busy, so be sure to make a reservation so you don't miss out. For live music and cocktails try Kaliko, or if you want something more relaxed Piggy's is a cosy bar. And if dancing is your thing, the Grange is highly recommended.
Who's it Best For?
Courcheval 1850 is great for all levels of skier and boarder. Its main drawback is the cost of staying here which may put some off. You will need a good budget to ski here!

CHALETS
Apartments can be a great idea on a ski holiday. Many offer great value for money and can work out a great deal cheaper than a chalet. Many of the newer apartments are architecturally designed and more loft like in appearance than the concrete monstrosities from the 1960's.
In Courcheval 1850 apartments can be the only way most of us can ski here as it is such an expensive resort. It is choc full of luxury chalets that are simply too expensive for most skiers to afford.And whilst some of the apartments are as expensive you can still find reasonably priced apartments here.
Where to Look For An Apartment
Residence Les Ecrins is a good example. It isn't the prettiest building in Courcheval 1850 but the apartments are right in the centre of the resort and wont break the bank. There is also the Premium Residence Les Chalets du Forum . These apartments are a little more costly but are located right next to the Quartier de la Croisette and shopping arcade.
So apartments can not only save you money but can offer you a great location and some come with great facilities which would match any good hotel. For families travelling with other families or large groups apartments can also be a good way to get more space and independence from each other.

Also there's the Hotel Olympic a 2* hotel located only 100m from the slopes.Do beware though, what can be classified as budget elsewhere is not always a budget price here. But it is possible to find more realistically priced hotels. Alternatively, check out some of the apartments on offer.
Chambery is the nearest airport to Courcheval, it is 109km away and takes about 1 1/4 hours transfer. Chambery can be a bit of a nightmare though as it can close in bad weather and you may get diverted. Grenoble is 2 hours away as is Lyon and finally Geneva is about a 3 hour transfer. Geneva may look the furthest but remember it has excellent links to the Three Valleys. The best airport if you plan to drive to Courcheval is Lyon.
Courcheval does have its own altiport for those of you wishing to get a private plane or helicopter. If this option is slightly beyond your reach then you might want to consider the following options.
Booking a Private Taxi
There are a number of companies you can book a minibus with that will collect you from the airport and deliver you to your door in the resort. Most buses take up to 8 passengers. If you are not in a party of 8 then opt for the shared transfer whereby you share the minibus with others going to the same resort as you.
A shared transfer from Chambery to Courcheval, single trip would cost approximately 50 Euros, Geneva would cost 59. We would strongly suggest you pre book online your transfer before you leave home.
