The Catalan Pyrenees stretches all the way from the stunning Cap de Creus on the west coast towards the holiday resort of Val d'Aran. Spectacular landscapes and some of the best skiing in Spain awaits. There are 10 resorts in this ski region including some of the best known including Baqueira Beret,Masella and la Molina.

Masella is located on the northern slope of Tosa d'Alp overlooking the Cerdanya valley. It offers 61km of downhill skiing, 44 pistes, 13 ski lifts. It caters well for all levels of skier and boarder and there is a natural half pipe. La Molina was Spains original ski resort(established in 1911), it offers tree lined trails overlooking the Cerdanya valley and is one of the closest resorts to the Mediterranean. It offers 50km of downhill skiing, 42 pistes and 16 ski lifts.

Visiting the Catalan Pyrenees

Baqueira Beret is one of Spains most popular ski resorts. With 120km of downhill skiing, 78 pistes and 33 ski lifts. This is a great resort for mixed groups and the ultra modern lifts ensure that there are rarely lift queues.Getting to this region couldn't be easier. Barcelona is only 2 hours away from most resorts as is Perpignan so ski weekends and short break ski holidays are perfectly feasible here. Another airport worth mentioning is Toulouse, which is only two and a half hours away.

So if you are looking at skiing in resorts that are easy to get to, set in beautiful surroundings with a good choice of slopes this ski region is for you. You may want to avoid weekends though as these resorts can get very busy with day trippers from Barcelona.
