Other Resorts

Once you have got over the shock that you can in fact ski in Spain, the next decision is where you go. There are 36 resorts in total in Spain and with good sun and snow they are a great choice for families. The skiing here is split between 3 main ski areas the Aragonese Pyrenees, Sierra Nevada and the Catalan Pyrenees.

There are however two resorts-La Covatilla and San Isidro which we have listed as 'other' as they do not sit in large ski areas. It doesn't make them any the less worth visiting, it just means that they arent linked or near to any other resorts.

La Covatilla is south of Salamanca province in the Western most part of the Sistema central mountains. San Isisdro is in the Cantabrian mountains in the municipal districts of Puebla de Lilo and Valdelugueros in the north of Leon province.

How to Choose a Ski Area

Whether you choose one of the above resorts or a resort in one of the larger ski areas is all dependent upon what you want from your ski holiday. If you are away for a time and want a good choice of ski terrain a larger ski area can be very beneficial but if you simply want a few hours skiing a day one of the smaller resorts may be fine.
