Where?
Ski Kitzbühel for possibly the ultimate Austrian winter experience. Often garnered as the most beautiful of Austrian ski resorts, it offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding in Austria, including the world famous Hahnenkamm downhill. With 54 lifts and 170 km of piste there's enough variety to keep anyone happy, and you can get there easily from either Salzburg or Innsbruck.
On the Slopes
Great skiing is the order of the day when you ski Kitzbühel. Beginners should take the gondola to the easy blue slopes at Kitzbüheler Horn, while intermediates will enjoy the wide-open spaces of Pass Thurn. For advanced skiers there are steep challenges at Ehrenbachgraben, plus of course the legendary Hahnenkamm! There's also some great off-piste challenges.Boarders can head to the snow park at the Kitzbühler Horn, or enjoy the free-riding in the Bichlalm area. The Kitzbühel Horn has two half pipes, a quarter pipe and also a new sprint slalom course - meaning there's something for every boarder. Off the Slopes
Eating options are plentiful, with Jagerwurzhutte and Panorama-Alm at Pass Thurn popular for lunch, as is the restaurant at Pengelstein. Restaurants in town range from burger bars to gourmet dining at the Unterberger Stuben. Simply wander the pedestrianised streets for a great selection of restaurants and cafés. The après-ski scene is lively, starting early and continuing into the early hours. Popular local bars include the Londoner, Flugel, and Jagermeister, while Take 5 and the Olympia lead the array of clubs. This is a ski holiday you won't want to end and certainly won't forget! Although a word of caution - this is an expensive resort, so don't come here thinking you can skimp and save.

Kitzbühel is an easy resort to get to so it's a good choice for families or those of you wanting a quick short break. The nearest airport is Salzburg which is 75km away, then Innsbruck which is 111km away and finally Munich airport which is 167km away.
There is a mainline train station in the resort and a bus picks up passengers from there every 15 minutes. There are trains from all these cities so it is perfectly feasible to rely on trains for all your transfers.
Minibus and Car Hire
Alternatively you may want to consider hiring a private minibus to pick you up and return you to the airport. These types of transfers can work out very cost effective if you are travelling in a group. Most of these minibuses take up to 8 passengers. If you are not traveling in a group of 8 then opt for the shared transfer service where you effectively share with strangers going to the same resort.
