Other Resorts

Sweden doesn't really offer the large lift linked ski areas that you will find elsewhere. Salen is a ski area but other resorts here are more stand alone. That doesn't make them not worth visiting, in fact we think Sweden really does suit all levels and tastes.

Two examples of ski resorts that are stand alone include resorts like Are and Vemdalen. Are for example is the largest and most diverse alpine resort in Northern Europe. With an extensive lift system, 103 runs and night skiing you certainly wont be short changed coming here.

Many ski resorts in Sweden are also great for non skiers. Are again offers everything from dog sledding, snow mobiling, ice fishing and ice climbing. With more and more daily flights to Sweden from the UK we think Sweden is well worth checking out.

How to Choose a Ski Area

Do think about what you want from your ski holiday. If you are a large mixed group who intend to ski hard all day every day then skiing in  a large ski area could be vital. But if you plan to ski  a few hours each day with the children a smaller resort may be all you need. Our resort reviews will help you decide.
