Solden Glacier

Austrias only ski area with 3 mountains higher than 3,000m which are accessible by lifts or gondolas and one of Austrias most beautiful.

Where?

Situated just an hour from Innsbruck, Solden is relatively simple to get to. From Innsbruck, your choices of transfer can be by car, taxi, bus or train.

On the slopes

Skiing and boarding on the Solden Glacier takes place high above Solden on the glaciers of Rettenbach and Tiefenbach where the scenery is simply stunning. They are lift linked to the main ski area in Solden and are joined by a ski tunnel as well as a road access tunnel. What makes this ski area so interesting is that the glacier skiing is lift linked into the non glacier skiing area. This means that the terrain is very varied and interesting and there really is something here for everyone. There are tree lined pistes alongside glacier skiing. For steeper terrain head to the Rettenbach and for gently rolling wide slopes head to the Tiefenbach Glacier.Every year in late October the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup celebrates the seasons opening here with the first mens and womens ski races.

Off the slopes

Solden is something of a hotspot when it comes to activities off the slopes. In April most years it hosts the Electric Mountain Festival where some of the worlds best DJ's come to party. The apres ski here is pretty good, starting in the mountain huts and continuing in the bars of Solden until the early hours of the morning.
