Where?

Ski Fórmigal and beginners, intermediates and especially families will enjoy ski holidays in this ski resort. Lying 170 kilometres north of Zaragoza and 380 kilometres north west of Barcelona you do have options to get here - and you can do it in just 90 minutes from the airport. It shares the Tena Valley with the neighbouring resort of Candanchú, and offers over 130 kilometres of marked runs, including some really challenging off-piste runs at Candanchú.

On the slopes

Ski holidays in Fórmigal are best for beginners and intermediates - there are seven green runs, 18 blues and 30 reds. Advanced skiers get 39 runs, off piste and can go off piste at neighbouring ski resort Candanchú, which has steep, tough blacks to rival the hardest Alpine slopes. There's also a half-pipe for snowboarders, a slalom course, and the chance to try snowcatting or heli-skiing. Beginners will also find a ski school with over 50 instructors, so this is a good, friendly place to cut your teeth.

Off the slopes

Good, cheap food and drink are the order of the day in Fórmigal, with plenty of bars and restaurants both on and off-piste. A good option for those on a budget is the fixed price "menu del dia", while if you hunger for more traditional Alpine fare, head for Restaurante Gemsbock. This being Spain, you can count on a lively après ski scene until the small hours. Accommodation options in and around the village include a range of hotels and self-catering apartments.
