There are no international airports actually in Andorra. But as it sits right in the Pyrenees the nearest airports to get to the ski resorts in Andorra are in France or Spain. Many skiers and boarders use Barcelona airport which is only 210km from Andorra due to some key airlines flying there. If you want to fly into France you can fly into Perpignan, 170km away, Toulouse, 196km and Carcassonne which is 155km away.

Andorra as a Ski Destination

Andorra has some great ski resorts. Barcelona tends to be the most popular airport to fly into to access the ski resorts in Andorra as there are low cost airlines that fly there. It's well-served by a number of airlines from the UK which does make booking your flights more simple. All distances that we quote to resorts are from Barcelona airport.

Flights into Barcelona

Barcelona is a busy international airport, the second largest airport in Spain. You can fly direct to Barcelona from London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Liverpool. From Cardiff, Edinburgh, Exeter and Glasgow you can fly to Barcelona but will need to stop in Amsterdam and Paris. Barcelona is well served by low cost airlines including easyJet and Monarch.

The direct carriers are Iberia, British Airways, easyJet and Monarch. 1 stop flight carriers include KLM, Air France and Lufthansa.

Barcelona, Spain

If you do have the time then it is certainly worth spending some time in Barcelona. One of the highlights in the city is Las Ramblas, the mediaeval old town. It is full of cafes, tapas bars and street performers. Then for art lovers there is the Picasso museum showing a good selection of his work. Then there is the park Guell full of great sculptures.

But Barcelona is also famous for its vibrant nightlife. The restaurants and nightclubs are great with everything going on until the early hours. So if you have the time and the budget try and spend some time in the city before heading off to the slopes.

Transferring from Barcelona to the Ski Resorts

You can drive from the airport, the road connecting Barcelona to Andorra is fairly easy so driving yourself is certainly an option. The drive time to most of the Andorran resorts is under 3 hours.

Bus connections to Andorra are good with six daily shuttle bus transfers. The journey time on most bus and coach operators is around 3.5 hours. If you are taking a bus or coach then do pre book your ticket online before you leave as it will work out cheaper. There are also public service buses that operate from Barcelona to Andorra but they do take longer and don't service the ski resorts as well as the private bus companies.
