Nice, France
Nice is located on the French Riviera in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and seaside promenade. But is there more to Nice than just the sea and sun?
What's in Nice?
Well the beaches are amazing, with the best ones to be found in Antibes and Juan les Pins. Antibes itself, found west of Nice, is a quiet place with Europes largest yacht harbour and if art is your thing it also has the Picasso museum. The museum is in a beautiful 14th century building and houses some of Picassos best work.For art lovers you may also want to visit the Palais Massena which houses some good impressionist paintings.
A sort bus ride away is also the principality of Monaco where, if gambling is your bag, you can visit the famous Grand Casino. In Nice itself there is good shopping, nice restaurants and some very good seaside dining. For night birds amongst you Nice also has a number of lively bars and clubs.

Flights
Nice Cote d'Azur is located 5.9km southwest of the city of Nice. It is Frances third busiest airport, after Charles de Gaulle and Orly, both in Paris.
You can fly into Nice from airports around the UK including Liverpool, Manchester, Southampton, London, Bristol, Newcastle, Glasgow, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Belfast and Aberdeen. British Airways operates the longest established links between London and Nice. Low cost airlines however now also fly into Nice including easyJet, bmibaby,Flybe and Jet2.com.
Roads
Nice airport is the closest airport to the southern alps. Listed above are the transfer times by road. You can be in Isola 2000 and Auron within about 1.5 hours. Car hire is fairly straightforward at the airport or you can use many of the private ski resort transfer companies.
Trains
Nice airport is connected by road to the city of Nice from where you can take a train to ski resorts in the region and the Portes du Soleil ski area. You will need to change however so if its public transport you want to use you may want to look at the buses.
There is a skibus that goes from the centre of Nice to Isola 2000 and one that also leaves from the train station. Transfer by bus to Isola 2000 takes about 2 hours so is a better choice than the train.
