Located between California and Nevada, you will find the Lake Tahoe ski area. The ski area is situated around the famous lake itself. Around Lake Tahoe there are total of 18 ski resorts, one of which is Squaw Valley. This resort is located in the Sierra Mountain Range and was the host site of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. This resort is close to other ski areas including Alpine Meadows, North Star and Heavenly.
Where
It is very easy to get to Squaw Valley ski resort since the Reno Tahoe International Airport has at least 72 daily departures offering nonstop flights between 15 major cities. Squaw is located just 42 miles from Reno, 196 miles from San Francisco and 96 miles from Sacramento. You will find the entrance to the valley just 8 miles southward of Truckee, and from Tahoe City it is only a 6 mile drive if you are travelling on Highway 89.

On the Slopes
On average, this ski resort gets 450 inches of snowfall per year. Beginners to experts will find their perfect terrain on the 3600 acres available to ski across the six peaks. The terrain parks offer pipes and other exciting features, the beginner areas are spread out, trails are well groomed, and the lifts are among the most technologically advanced in North America.
