Other Resorts

Scotland has five key resorts you can choose from including Cairngorm, The Lecht, Glenshee, Nevis Range and Glencoe. All of Scotlands ski resorts are in the Grampian Mountains known as the Highlands. In addition to these resorts Scotland has a good number of indoor and dry ski slopes.

Scotlands ski areas do not therefore offer the geographical diversity of say France or Switzerland but what you will get here is easily accessible resorts, amazing scenery, friendly people and you wont have the long transfer times that you often get abroad.

Check out our resort guides to choose the right Scottish ski resort. The Nevis range for example is  a good choice if you want good backcountry and it is the most modern ski resort. Cairngorm is probably the best known and Glencoe the first original ski centre.

How to Choose a Ski Area

Rather than being lured by glossy marketing speak do take the time to really think about what you want from your ski area. Large lift linked ski areas can sound very attractive but if you are really only going to ski a few hours each day with your children they may not be what you need. Conversely if you are away for two weeks in a mixed party they make be vital.
