Other Resorts
If you want guaranteed snow, quiet slopes and no lift queues in beautiful surroundings then maybe Norway is for you. The off piste activities are also very varied with horse sleigh rides and huskies. The best time to visit Norway is March-April where you will find sunnier days and warmer nights.
There are a number of ski areas in Norway including Trysil, Hemsedal, Lillehammer, Geilo and Voss. Each one has its unique qualities. Some are larger than others and will give you great variety and scope. Trysil for example is one of the largest ski areas offering 71km of runs. Beitostolen on the other hand is smaller and quieter.
When choosing a ski area you often have the choice between ski resorts that sit alone and others that are lift linked to other resorts, creating a large ski area. Each has there own benefits depending on what you need. Large ski areas can be a great choice for large mixed groups or if you are away for more then one week and want to get a lot of skiing in.
How to Choose a Ski Area
Read our resort reviews to find out what is right for you. If you are travelling to Norway and plan to travel around the country and add some skiing on then some of the smaller resorts could be good. If you are only here for the skiing then maybe a larger resort like Lillehammer or Hemsedal could be best.
