Beitostølen

Ski Beitostølen and whilst it's a small and compact ski resort, it's perfect for families and beginners, but what it lacks in size it makes up by the large warmth and heart of the locals & their wholesome après ski activities.

Where

Located only 40km North of Fagernes, ski Beitostølen ski resort in Norway after a train or car ride to get you to the located Jotunheim Region in the centre of Norway. It also lies on the border of the Jotunheimen National Park close to the mountain range of Jotunheimen. This allows for some scenic wonders throughout your ski holiday as well as early snowfalls. Transfers are not the shortest - but well worth it once you arrive.

On the slopes

Ski Beitostølen and you get slopes that are great for beginners and intermediates as well as non-skiers. With a few trails that meet more advanced needs, the Beitostølen ski resort is a wonderful place for families and beginners to holiday. Although the resort is small the slopes tend to remain un-crowded and dusted with enough snow to make the skiing season last from November to April.

With a total of 21 slopes, 13 of which classify as beginners or intermediate runs, there's a total of about 18kms of downhill piste. Families have enough options within a confined safe area of space. Additionally, skiers will find the 9 lifts easy to use to navigate the slopes and snowboarders will be delighted to hear that there are two snowboard parks for them to test and flaunt their skills at. But this is a mecca for cross country skiers - with 320km of perpared tracks.

Off the slopes

The small village atmosphere at the Beitostølen ski resort is accommodating to most families on vacation as there are an overwhelming number of restaurants, local shops, and bars to choose from if you venture out into the area. Additionally, there is even a bakery for a warm slice of bread to compliment dinner made with goods from the supermarket for thrifty family holiday goers.

The bar scene only lights up on the weekends, given the family atmosphere, but live music will put a bounce back into your step during the holiday weekend if you need some rejuvenation. Families and tourists also enjoy checking out the dog sledding teams, snowmobiling, and many family-orientated activities offered by the villagers so everyone has a grand time on holiday regardless of age.
