Other Resorts

Japan offers skiers and snowboarders amazing snow, uncrowded pistes and awesome powder. There are a huge number of resorts to choose from. There are huge resorts offering everything you would get from some of the finest in Europe and other much smaller resorts.

Many resorts are on the north island of Hokkaido and the main island of Honshu. Check out all of our reviews to find the resort that is right for you. Niseko is very popular with foreign skiers and may be a good resort if you are new to Japan. Hakuba has great nightlife and if hot springs are your thing then check out Nozawa Onsen.

Large ski areas can be a great choice if you want diversity in your skiing and you plan to ski enough and need a large ski area lift pass. Other resorts don't sit in a large ski area and we list as 'other'. They can also be a great choice, many will still give you diversity and keep you from getting bored.

How To Choose a Ski Area

Do think long and hard when you choose a ski area. If you are travelling to Japan and plan to ski along with some sightseeing you may not need to ski in more than one resort. If however you plan to ski long and hard over a two week period or longer then staying in a large ski area can be a great idea.
