Where?
Made up of small hamlets,Saint-François Longchamp is a quiet resort only one hours drive away from Chambery airport. There are six other airports within a two hours drive including Geneva and Turin. This is a very accessible ski resort, it is the first resort you will come to in the Maurienne valley, only 12km from the motorway exit. A great choice for a ski weekend.

On the Slopes
The resort is best suited to beginners and intermediates although there are some steeper areas for experts. Expert and advanced skiers and boarders will need to purchase the ski pass that opens up the link with Valmorel.This allows you to ski in the ski area known as the Grand Domaine which allows you to pass from one mountain to another and ski down 1300m from one side of Savoie to the other! Boarders will also enjoy the boarder cross course and half pipe in the snowpark.There is good cross country skiing here if you head to the Grand Coin Nordic area, 12km from Saint-François Longchamp . Here you will find 40km of marked trails through pine forests and meadows.

Off the slopes
As you would expect from a small purpose built resort there is a good choice of reasonably priced accommodation here that is mostly small apartment houses. Away from the skiing there are dogsled rides, paragliding, speedriding, walking and snowshoe hiking. There is also a cinema and a museum. But what you may really love off the slopes is the fitness centre. Developed by Bernard Hinault, five times winner of the Tour de France , the centre is called The Forum des Eaux and offers swimming pools, solarium and other water based fitness activities.This resort is great for families and has 3 childrens clubs on offer. There are a good range of restaurants in the resort but this is not the place to come for wild nightlife.
