What Is The Atmosphere Like Here?
If you choose to visit Croatia you will find friendly service and good value accommodation. You may not find the sophistication that you would in some better known European skiing resorts but if you are looking for a good value ski holiday then you have come to the right place.
How Many Resorts Are There?
There are six resorts in total in Croatia but the two best known resorts are Platak, 150km from Zagreb and Bjelolasica which is also the training centre for the Croatian Olympic ski team.
Who Is It Best For?
Croatia sees snow for about three months of the year, providing skiing opportunities for experts and learners alike. There is an Olympic Centre at Bjelolasica, the largest ski resort in Croatia, that offers snowboarding, cross-country skiing and skiing. The only downfall here is that the snow in this area can be unreliable due to altitude.
With ski resorts like Platak benefiting from a wave of investment, you will find many resorts with modern equipment and facilities, but across Croatia the relatively low altitude can make snow cover variable. Ski resorts here are suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, with slopes for both beginners and experts.
What's It like To Stay Here?
Accommodation includes hotels, apartments and chalets. Hotels are usually the most popular, with more luxury hotels appearing in resorts.
How To Get Here?
The best airport to head to is Zagreb, you can fly from a number of airports in the UK including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Bjelolasica is only a 1 hour 45 minute transfer from here and Platak is just under 2 hours.
