We’ve compiled the top resorts we think are great for families both in the Alps and North America. Here are the highlights, for more information look at our more in depth resort guides.

A family ski holiday is one of the best holidays you can do. It will almost certainly be the only type of holiday that your teenage children will not mind you dragging them along for too.

Combining both outdoor fresh air and exercise, you also get to relax on the slopes in the sunshine in the middle of the winter. Then, once you've finished the day, the whole family can have a relaxing evening in a chalet, hotel or apartment setting. Perfect!

So where do we recommend for families then?

Our Family-Friendly Ski Resorts

  • Courcheval, France. France is a favourite destination for Brits but this resort is great for families. Chairlifts are fitted with magnestick devices which keep children safe on chairlifts. In addition, Courcheval 1650 has quiet slopes and good ski schools to choose from.

  • Flaine, France. Another good French resort for children. It’s a car free resort so no worries about dangerous traffic. In addition the slopes are kind to children and it’s relatively snow sure. Good ski schools, family friendly hotels and crèches. Overall, a good choice for families.

  • Morzine and Les Gets, France. Doesn’t always get good snow but a great place to ski with children. Popular with family ski companies so you will find good nanny services, crèches and ski schools.

  • La Rosiere, France. Lifts are near much of the accommodation so no long walks with children carrying skis. In addition there is now a new leisure centre in the resort. Lots of childcare and good beginner slopes.
