Access to the ski area is quite easy due to the major highways and air travel from Burlington, Vermont as well as Montreal, Quebec. Direct flights can be taken from Toronto to Burlington during the winter season.

WE LIKE

Good for all levels of skier and boarder. Huge amount of gently wooded ski areas. Good for children, boasts a great water park.
Has the most beginner and tree skiing in the East. The Zone, Jay Peaks learning area, has 80 acres of wide gentle trails.
Has some of the best natural annual snowfall in Vermont. Almost all lodgings are ski in ski out.

WE DON'T LIKE

Can be a bit of a trek to get there, 2 hours from Montreal.
Can get very busy at weekends. The new water park has bought more families in, some say the lifts are not coping with increased numbers.

On the Slopes

Learning for the first time at Jay Peak is enjoyable in The Zone Beginner Area. Skiers and boarders can learn here, and have access to 80 acres of gentle slopes which are easy to navigate. Here there are also two freestyle areas perfect for beginner skiers and riders. The focus at Jay ski resort is to have fun while learning. There is also a New Mountain Learning Centre for the smallest riders and skiers which features a school, indoor learning area, a daycare and playtime Riglet Park that was developed in conjunction with Disney. For the more advanced skier there are dedicated clinics to work on developing specific skills for telemark skiing, enjoying the glades, and for powder turning.

Off the Slopes

After a day on the slopes you may want to head to the Sport Lounge at Hotel Jay, the Belfrey or the Golden Eagle Sports Bar and the International Bar at the base of the Tram Lodge. Here you will find frequently scheduled live entertainment, karaoke and theme parties. Most accommodation is within walking distance of a lift and is either ski in or ski out. Nearby is the Pump House Indoor water Park and Ice Haus Indoor arena. Other activities include the Taiga spa, several shops to browse, snowshoe tours, the fitness centre and daycare facilities.
