Other Resorts
The Czech Republic is a great bargain ski destination and is also gaining a reputation for itself as being a great location for bad skiers! It's also easy to ski here and link your skiing in with a visit to Prague as many resorts are within easy travelling distance of the capital.
There are a number of key ski areas in the Czech Republic including the Eagle Mountains, Izera Mountains, Ore Mountains, the Bohemian Forest and the Giant Mountain. The later is the major ski region in the country. Large ski areas have their advantages as do smaller more stand alone resorts.
Larger ski areas provide the diversity of pistes that can be very useful if individual ski resorts are small or if you are a mixed group that require different levels of difficulty. If however you are planning on visiting Prague and just want to have a few days on a mountain then a smaller resort could be just the ticket.
How To Choose a Ski Area
The best starting point is to decide exactly what you want from a ski holiday. If you are away for a short week and plan to ski alongside some sightseeing a small stand alone resort could be all you need. If however you are away for 2 weeks and want variety and lots of different resorts to visit a large ski area may be the best choice.
