There are three main types of snowboard bags to choose from.
Snowboard sleeve bags
Put politely this is the most basic type of snowboard bag that you will get. There is no real padding and most bags in this category will only fit one board. But these can be a great buy if you are only travelling down the road to ride.
Padded snowboard bag-non wheel
Padded bags are a must if you are flying or in fact using any transport where there is a chance your board will be lifted around. The bag can be fully padded or only partially padded. The bags that don't have wheels are lighter but then do remember that the big drawback is that you have to then lug it about.
Padded snowboard bag-with wheels
These are usually fully padded and can hold your boots and multiple boards. Just watch the weight as many airlines will charge you a premium for them. But the main advantage is that your gear is really well protected and easy to carry around.
Features to look out for
Most snowboards are constructed from nylon so do check out the 'D' rating, the higher the rating the more durable it is. Also do check its waterproof. Do check that the bag inside has straps to tie everything down with.Padded straps can also be a real bonus for your shoulders and finally the more internal pockets the better.
