Many of you will be happy for others to service your ski equipment either in your ski resort or at home. This does however cost money, particularly in resort. Unless there is a significant problem with your skis it is possible, with a little know how, to service your skis yourself.

Wax and waxing iron

If you want to wax your own skis we wouldn't recommend that you use your clothing iron. You can get special irons for skis which allow you to set precise temperatures and spread heat evenly over the base of your skis with no hot spots.

Ski base

It is possible for you to mend small repairs on the base of your skis. For this you can buy simple files or scrapers to more expensive power tools.

Brushes and polishing

A good brush can be a great way to brush out wax and many have an anti static effect. Make sure if you are waxing your skis that you choose the right type of brush for the wax you are using eg cold or fluorinated waxes will require different brushes.
