Airports near Ski Resorts in Sweden
Sweden offers skiers a long season and amazing ski in ski out accommodation. It offers an interesting blend of the modern alongside wide, spacious landscapes that makes you feel like you are really in the wilderness. Our guide will help you decide which ski resort is best for you and which airport is the best to use.
What is Sweden Like to Ski in?
One of the main benefits of skiing here is that you are guaranteed snow! So if you are tired of chasing the snow in Europe then check Sweden out. Alongside the great snow you get uncrowded slopes and few lift queues. It also feels very different to skiing in the more commercialised resorts like Morzine or Val d'Isere. Here you really do feel like you are skiing where no-one has skied before. Add into the mix great cross country skiing and the fact the most Swedes speak English better than we do, you can understand why it is gaining in popularity.
Off the slopes Sweden also has a lot to offer. Here you can go on snowmobile safaris, drive a team of huskies, ride horses and go tobogganing. The people are very service oriented and children are well cared for here with lots of resorts offering clubs and creche facilities. A lot of Swedish resorts offer free lift passes for children.
Which Swedish Airport is Best?
Sweden won't offer you short transfers to the resorts so do bear this in mind. Stockholm Airport is a good airport to look at as from here you can get to Bjorkliden in just under 2.75 hours. From Stockholm you can also get a domestic flight to Are Ostersund for the great resort of Are. Klappen resort is also only 410km from Stockholm.
