holidays in Powder Mountain, Utah

Powder Mountain is a ski area located in Utah and covers 7,000 acres of pristine powder for boarders and skiers to enjoy. On the mountain you can enjoy a variety of activities including back country tours, side country, cat skiing and more.

Where

Powder Mountain is located approximately 86 km north of Salt Lake City international airport in the Ogden Valley. Compared to other ski resorts it is closer when the distance between Colorado Ski resorts to gateway airports are compared.

On the Slopes

Hence the name, Powder Mountain offers plenty of legendary powder. The resort is less well known and many Utah visitors don’t even know that the resort is there. The ski terrain however, is the largest in the USA at 5,500 acres. It is perhaps less known, as it does not have the village and lift infrastructure that some of its neighbours have. One of the benefits of this is that those who love powder can have much of the area to themselves and for less expense. There are no snow making facilities here, and there are 4 chairlifts along with three surface tows. If you choose to venture to the backside of the mountain, you can take a bus back. Cheap snow cat rides are also available to get to additional terrain. The mountain also does not offer super steep slopes like some of the others in the area.

Off the Slopes

There is not a large amount of accommodation available on the mountain. Some of it is ski in and out. There are 2 condos,  hotel accommodation and a timeshare. Some houses are for rent and there is more lodging available at Eden Valley located at the base of the mountain. Eden also provides a coffee shop, some restaurants and a grocery store. The atmosphere is relaxing and low key, but the word is getting out about the fresh powder experience at this mountain.
