Ski Holidays in Sweden
If you are tired of chasing the snow around many of the European resorts then maybe you should check Sweden out. You will be virtually guaranteed snow, it's a short flight from the UK and there are amazing off the piste activities you can take part in that you won't find anywhere else-like snowmobiling over a frozen lake.
Why Ski in Sweden?
Skiing or boarding in Sweden will offer you a really different winter holiday experience. The landscape itself is very different from what you would see in the Alps for example. Here it feels like you are really in a wilderness. You are also virtually guaranteed snow and you will find uncrowded slopes with non existent lift queues.
Sweden also offers amazing ski in ski out accommodation. Hotels are of a high standard and many offer spa services as a matter of course. But it is children who we think will really love it here. Resorts are very child friendly, many offer ski areas just for children and most villages are safe and compact. Ski schools are also of a very high standard with excellent English speaking instructors.

Which Ski Resort?
Are is probably the best known ski resort in Sweden. It is great for beginners and intermediates and also for families. Vemdalen is quieter than Are but very beautiful and again good for families. Salen is great for intermediates and is connected to a number of different ski areas, so you have lots of variety.
Branas is also good for families and intermediates whereas Tarnaby Hemaran offers amazing heli skiing so tends to attract a much younger crowd. As you can guess the apres ski here is also pretty lively so not one for the families!
Is It Right For You?
We think Sweden is well worth looking at. It may cost you a bit more but the snow is great and it's that bit different from the normal European ski resorts. Check out our resort reviews to find out more about the slopes, accommodation, travel and of course the nightlife!
