Ski Holidays in Italy

Over the past few years Italy has been somewhat eclipsed by the likes of France and Austria but that is a shame as it has so much to offer. It has the mountains, the scenery and of course great food. Its best known ski areas are the Milky Way and the Dolomites which still boasts the largest runs in Europe. Don't discount Italy this ski season, check out what it has to offer with our comprehensive resort reviews.

Why Ski in Italy?

One of the main reasons why so many Brits love Italy is the atmosphere. Unlike some other countries skiing here is very family friendly and above all fun. That doesn't mean that there arent challenging runs but Italians believe that skiing should be fun and all about enjoyment. In this sense the mountain restaurants are great as is the apres ski on offer in resort.

In addition to this, Italy gives you the opportunity to cross border ski. For example you can ski Claviere and also cross over into French Montgenevre, Rosiere is accessible from La Thuile, Zermatt in Switzerland from Cervinia and Chamonix from Courmayeur. A further benefit is the short transfer times particularly from Turin airport-Sauze d'Oulz is reachable within 1 hour of Turin. There are huge ski areas like the Dolomiti Superski with 1220km of piste. And finally it offers value for money, it is cheaper to ski here than say Switzerland and France and ofr course there's the Italian food...
