Why Ski in Finland?
If you are at all tired of the commercialism of many resorts in the Alps then it could be time to check Finland out. Here, despite the low altitude, you will get good snow but quiet, uncrowded pistes. There's no hustle or bustle here on the slopes, just a wilderness covered in snow.
The accommodation is also amazing with log cabins slopeside and smart hotels that usually have spa facilities as a matter of course. You wont find any ugly modern brick hotels here. And once you've exhausted the slopes there's always husky tours and reindeer rides!
Which Ski Resort?
There are about 75 resorts in Finland but the main ski resorts here are Ruka, Levi, Ylas and Pyha-Luosto. Ruka is the largest resort and has a great beginners area. For this reason it is especially popular with families. Levi is probably the most popular in Sweden, offering two snowparks and slopes for all abilities. It is also the liveliest of resorts, with a good choice of restaurants and bars on offer.
Ylas is the best known resort and Pyha- Luosta is quite unharried, a much quieter resort than some of the others. Read all our resort reviews to find the resort that is right for you. We include information about the slopes, accommodation, travel and of course the apres ski.
