WE LIKE

  • Extensive, varied local terrain to suit everyone from beginners to experts - plus the rest of the Three Valleys is on hand.
  • Ski area is well laid out and easy to follow. Village still has a certain amount of charm when compared to 1850.
  • Impressive lift system, piste maintenance and snowmaking. Cheaper accommodation on offer here than elsewhere in Courcheval.

WE DON'T LIKE

  • Still an expensive resort to stay and holiday in compared to elsewhere outside the Three Valleys.
  • Could be considered poor relation to other Courchevel resorts.
  • Slopes get very busy here at peak times of the season.

On the Slopes

As it's part of a massive ski area, ski holidays in Courchevel 1300 Le Praz offer an unlimited variety of skiing. From the village there's good access to Courchevel 1850 and the rest of the Three Valley ski area via a gondola that goes directly up into 1850. You can ski right into the village, but the low altitude means that snow conditions on these slopes are often poor. Snowboarders will find good options including a terrain park.

Ski Area

If you Ski Courchevel 1300 Le Praz you are also in the ski region of Les Trois Vallèes.

Off the Slopes

The Courchevel ski resort is set amidst wooded slopes in the traditional village of Le Praz. It is ideal for a family holiday, with good accommodation, and some of the best restaurants in the area. Après-ski can be somewhat quiet, and centres around the local bars in Le Praz. There are some shops, but for non-skiers there's little to do. However, with both ski schools and crèche operating out of the village, families will find plenty to keep the children busy.

Who's It Best For?

Extensive local terrain will suit all levels of skier and boarder. It is however cheaper to stay here than elsewhere in Courcheval so a good option if you don't want to break the bank.

Chalets are for many the epitome of a ski holiday. The traditional alpine ski chalet nestled in the mountains with ski in ski out convenience is what many of us dream of. Chalets can however come in all shapes and sizes with catered and uncatered options and large interconnecting chalets that sleep 20+ people to smaller more cozy 1 bedroom affairs.

The main downside of staying in Courcheval is simply the price. For many since the Russians took over it is simply too expensive. So unless you have a limitless budget head down the mountain for more reasonable prices. Le Praz at 1300 is certainly more reasonable than 1850.

Where Should I Look For A Ski Chalet in Courcheval 1300?

You will find Courcheval 1300 more reasonable than 1850 but that it is still more expensive here than outside the Three Valleys. That said if you want to ski here it is certainly the cheapest option you have. You will find a good choice of chalets in 1300 and lots of tour operators are based here.

The main word of warning staying in 1300 is that its low altitude means that snow isn't always as good here. So if you stay here you will need to accept that its a long ride up by gondola to the ski area that will give the best skiing.

CHALETS

Apartments can be  a great choice on a ski holiday. They are often much cheaper than a chalet and many of the newer apartments offer facilities that would rival any hotel.

The main problem you will find if you want an apartment in Courcheval 1300 is that there aren't many here! Those that exist are usually chalet style apartments. If you are still keen to stay in an apartment  then check out Mountain Heaven or Cimalpes who have some apartments on offer here.

Are Apartments Really Such a Good Idea?

Well they can work out cheaper than a chalet and many come as catered options so offer very good value. As we have said many of the newer complexes that companies like MGM are building come complete with swimming pools, underground car parks, saunas ands spas. So they are certainly a world away from the horrid concrete blocks of the 1960's.

They are also a great idea for families travelling together or large groups. If you book within the same apartment complex you are still together yet you have more independence and space than in a traditional chalet.,
