Leogang is part of Austrias Ski Circus ski region and is one of of the best places for beginners and intermediates to ski and board. It is also a pretty village and a great choice for people who want to ski in an authentic Austrian village setting.

Where?

Leogang is part of the Ski Circus ski area, an area that also includes the resorts of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. It is located close to the town of Saalfelden and resembles many small Austrian valley resorts, being low rise, fairly spread out and with a church at its centre. The nearest airport is Salzburg.

On the slopes.

Leogang is great for intermediate skiers and boarders with most of the runs being graded blue or red. Experts should access the more steep slopes found in Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Within the Ski Circus ski area there is 200km of pistes to enjoy. It is possible to ski a full circuit of Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang in one day although you have to tackle this in an anticlockwise direction as there is no lift from Vorderglemm back into the Saalbach sector. Snowboarders will want to head over to Saalbach where they will find some of the most boarder friendly ski areas in the Alps, some slopes here are reserved solely for boarders!

Off the slopes

The Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang ski region is known for lively apres ski although if you are staying in Leogang you will probably find it the quietest resort of the three. The mountain huts are there but are a much quieter affair, if you want more lively apres ski then head to Saalbach. Off the slope activities include curling, squash, tandem paragliding to more relaxed activities like taking a horse drawn sleigh.
